Internet Connection Speed

How fast is the connection to the Internet? When moving the cursor over the internet connection icon on the task bar, 100.0 Mbps is displayed. But this is only the speed between the livebox and my PC. What about the real internet connection speed?

I tried 5 internet connection speed tests and the results are here...

  2. download rate is about 500kpbs and still very slow!!!

    summary:
    1 bit = 0 or 1
    1 byte = 8 bits (representing 1 character in ASCII) 2 bytes for 1 character in Unicode.
    1 KB = 1024 bytes (2 power of 10)

    500 kbps = 500 kilobytes per second, which is 500 X 1024 bytes per second.
